David Dworakowski was honored and humbled to be presented 2017-2018 Dean Allen award from Orange County Public Defender, Sharon Petrosino. Dean Allen carved out a career representing the poor and disenfranchised. He joined the Orange County Public Defender’s office in 1969 and worked there in various capacities for 32 years, before losing a battle to cancer. Dean was a beloved figure and scholar of the law; he was also a mentor to so many in the Public Defender’s Office and the entire legal profession. After Dean’s passing, in 2002, the Public Defender’s office instituted the J. Dean Allen Character Award. This award is given annually “to recognize an attorney who demonstrates integrity, passion for the law, and commitment to the poor.”
San Diego California Court of Appeal reverses family law trial judge and agrees with attorney Stephane Quinn. After the trial court granted mother the right to move to another state with the couple’s child, attorney Quinn, representing father, filed an emergency writ petition in the court of Appeal, a Petition for Review in the California Supreme Court, and then an appeal in the California Court of Appeal. After oral argument, the Court unanimously agreed with Stephane Quinn in a written decision. Client’s child returned to California to be with his father! ( See McKenzie v. McKenzie, D070630.)
